FREE EXPORT TRAINING COURSES FOCUSED ON SEAFOOD AND

ASSOCIATED PRODUCTS AVAILABLE FOR LOUISIANA BUSINESSES



A series of Exporting 101 courses on developing or expanding an export
business are being offered to Louisiana companies on multiple dates and in
several locations throughout the state. The course will focus on exporting
Louisiana seafood, fish, crawfish, alligator, value-added products and
associated supplies, commodities and equipment. Companies new to exporting
or experienced exporters with employees needing export training are
encouraged to sign up for the courses which are supported by Southwest
Louisiana Economic Development Alliance, New Orleans U.S. Export Assistance
Center, Le Centre International, South Louisiana Economic Council, Acadiana
Economic Development Council, Louisiana Agricultural Center, Louisiana
Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board, Louisiana Sea Grant, Louisiana Small
Business Development Center and the Southern U.S. Trade Association.



The export training program is designed to train companies in developing an
international business strategy while identifying the steps needed to find
new consumers in foreign markets. The program will cover key topics such as
export economics and breaking even, identifying potential overseas markets,
assessing business and product readiness, promoting products in target
markets, export logistics, methods of payment and legal considerations /
regulatory requirements.



Organized by Leake and Andersson, LLP through a federal grant, the training
courses primary focus is on (but not limited to) companies located in the
Gustav and Ike disaster declared parishes of Ascension, Assumption,
Calcasieu, Cameron, East Baton Rouge, Iberia, Iberville, Jefferson,
Lafourche, Livingston, Orleans, Plaquemines, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, St.
Bernard, St. Landry, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Terrebonne or Vermilion.



Upcoming courses include: July 23 (Lake Charles), July 24 (Abbeville), July
25 (Thibodaux), July 30 (Belle Chasse) and July 31 (Chalmette). Courses will
be held from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
