St. Bernard Community Health Center holds Dedication Ceremony  

 

St. Bernard Parish President David Peralta, Access Health LA Executive
Director/CEO Mark F. Keiser, federal and state officials, staff and business
leaders were on hand for the dedication ceremony of the St. Bernard
Community Health Center.  The facility, located in Suite 1300 of the
building at 8050 W. Judge Perez Dr. in Chalmette, will offer access to local
primary care services for all parish residents, including those with
Medicaid, no insurance.  

 

Parish President David Peralta stated this completes the final phase of our
medical recovery.  He spoke of the partnership with Access Health, FEMA and
GOHSEP and thanked them for their efforts towards this project.

 

Andre Cadogen, LRO Deputy Director of FEMA said his agency has spent to date
$1.6 Billion dollars on recovery in St. Bernard Parish and will continue to
support the rebuilding efforts.

 

A member of Access Health Louisiana network, St. Bernard Community Health
Center (SBCHC) is the only Federally Qualified Health Center in the parish.
While SBCHC is not a "free clinic," it does provide comprehensive primary
care services to St. Bernard residents of all ages, regardless of ability to
pay or health insurance status. It provides affordable care through sliding
scale cash pricing and the Greater New Orleans Community Health Connection
program in St Bernard Parish (GNOCHC), Keiser said.

 

Among the services provided at SBCHC are adult and pediatric primary care,
behavioral health care, industrial medicine and podiatry. In addition, the
staff works closely with patients to find avenues for secondary referrals as
needed as well as other resources such as prescription discounts. 

 

The SBCHC clinical team includes Physicians: Paul Verette, M.D., Diane
McDermott, M.D. (soon to join staff) and Yacarra Tabb, DPM; Nurse
Practitioners: Cynthia Bartholomae, NP, Gary Gagnard, NP, and Lisa Spence,
NP (Pediatrics). John Gray is the on-site Operations Manager.

 

Appointments at the St Bernard Community Health Center are available by
calling 504-281-2800. The Center has extended hours and is open Monday thru
Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00
p.m.
