Jindal Weekly Update

Governor Jindal capped off a busy week filled with great news about
Louisiana's job growth and economy. The Governor also traveled to Canada
where he met with energy industry leaders and highlighted the importance of
building the Keystone XL pipeline. Governor Jindal deconstructed the liberal
argument against the pipeline in his speech and urged the U.S. government to
approve plans to construct the pipeline because it would help North America
become energy independent and lead to more economic growth for America.

Here Is A Quick Recap Of The News About The Governor's Week:

Business Leaders About The Importance Of Building The Keystone XL Pipeline.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal traveled to the Canadian Rockies to blame "blind
leftwing ideologues" for the impasse over building the proposed Keystone XL
oil pipeline. . . . In sharper terms than many others in his party, Mr.
Jindal portrays the Democrats as elitists who oppose all forms of
traditional energy production and explicitly favor higher energy prices.
"There are no logical reasons to oppose construction of the pipeline other
than an irrational liberal ideology that blindly and unscientifically
opposes all forms of energy which they themselves do not deem to be
sufficiently 'green' or 'renewable,'" Mr. Jindal says. . . . "The sad truth
is that the Democrat Party in America is the party of energy austerity, and
is holding America hostage to their extremist and unscientific views," he
says, according to the advance text. "They want the government to tell
Americans to live in smaller houses, drive smaller cars, set their
thermostats higher in the summer and lower in the winter."

Baton Rouge has the right idea, economically speaking, according to a new
ranking of metropolitan areas poised for growth. The Louisiana capital leads
the list of top metro areas for economic growth potential, according to
Business Facilities magazine, which describes itself as "specializing in the
site selection marketplace." A new, 800-job IBM technology center downtown
and related investments in technology education at Louisiana State
University have the city poised to reap the benefits of a burgeoning
software sector, the magazine found.

in the United States for economic and job growth, according to a study by a
leading corporate site selection magazine. Area Development magazine named
Lafayette the best overall in a study of 380 metropolitan areas with the
goal to "identify which cities across America are emerging from the
recession as economic front-runners -- and why." Seven other metropolitan
areas in Louisiana were also included in the study, but the next closest to
Lafayette was the Houma-Bayou Cane-Thibodaux area at No. 57 overall,
according to the magazine.; Baton Rouge was next, at No. 85. . . . Lafayette
experienced the nation's largest increase in employment between December
2011 and December 2012 with an 8.6 percent gain, according to the Bureau of

Self Analysis Of The Party. Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal, who also chairs
the Republican Governors Association, says Republicans should be doing more
to help Ken Cuccinelli in his race for the governorship in Virginia. "I
think there are still too many people in the Republican party and the
conservative movement who aren't involved in that election and should be
there helping to support Ken, that are worried about another loss or still
doing self analysis," said Jindal in an interview with The Weekly Standard
Thursday afternoon. . . . "The reality is, we've got an election," said
Jindal. "You know, instead of worrying about elections years from now, let's
win this election. And you win this election, and that begets victories in
2014. You win in 2014, and then you can start focusing on the next
presidential election. We've got fights that are going on today. Let's go
win those elections."
