A St. Bernard Parish mother pulled a stun gun on her daughter's adversary
during an altercation in the Chalmette High School gym on Thursday,
according to a St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office report. The teenager told
deputies that as the woman walked toward her, she pulled a handheld
Taser-type weapon from her purse, and the girl heard "what sounded like a
taser being discharged," according to the report written by Deputy Daniel
Carreras.

Tammy Miller, 34, of Chalmette, was booked with aggravated assault on
Thursday and was released from St. Bernard Parish on Friday afternoon on a
$3,500 bond, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The altercation apparently began on Sunday, when Miller's daughter and the
girl, a 16-year-old from Chalmette, got into an argument about the girl
talking to one of Miller's daughter's friends, according to the report. The
girl told the deputy that during that Sunday argument, Miller's daughter
punched her in the mouth with a closed fist.

The girl told deputies that Miller had called her since Sunday several
times, threatening her, according to the police report.

Miller told deputies that she was walking her daughter to class when the
girl involved in the Sunday argument began shouting at her and her daughter,
according to the report. Miller said that she and the girl began arguing and
that's when she pulled the stun gun from her purse but that she was "unsure
if she discharged the taser during the altercation," the report says.

While the police report refers to the weapon as a Taser, the weapon seized
is listed as a "1800k Volt SD-800TYPE D," which the Sheriff's Office later
confirmed Friday afternoon is not a taser but a stun gun.

Chalmette High School employees separated Miller and the girl, according to
the report.

St. Bernard Parish Schools Superintendent Doris Voitier said Friday that no
one was injured in the incident and that school officials -- possibly
coaches or gym teachers -- escorted Miller to a nearby school office
immediately after they saw her pull the stun gun from her purse.

Voitier said school officials reported the incident to the Sheriff's Office.
She also said that Miller had said she regularly carries the stun gun in her
purse for personal protection because she works in the French Quarter.
