Team up with Jean Lafitte National Historical Park & Preserve on Saturday,
September 28, 10:00am-1:00pm 

to participate in the 20th National Public Lands Day. There will be
volunteer opportunities for all ages, 

So bring the whole family to Chalmette Battlefield (next to Chalmette
National Cemetery, site of the volunteer project event), volunteers can
"Return to 1815" on September 28 noon-3:00 p.m. Civilians and troops in
Battle of New Orleans period dress will be on hand. There'll be an 1815-era
army recruiter looking for new troops, old-time games for the kids, a
campfire cooking demonstration, period dancing lessons with the Louisiana
Vintage Dancers, and the opportunity to join a cannon crew for an artillery
drill.
