Environmental and Water Resources Engineer hired to review parish's water
quality efforts



St. Bernard Parish Government has hired Dr. A. J. Englande to conduct an
independent evaluation of the parish's water quality efforts. This comes as
a result of the detection of Naegleria fowleri in the Parish's potable water
supply:



The work scope is to assist Parish officials and personnel in addressing
concerns over Naegleria fowleri detected in the Parish drinking water
supply. Work will address, but not be limited to, the following items:



. Review and evaluate standard operating procedures regarding
disinfection methodology for the Parish's potable water system;

. Review and evaluate data relevant to the presence and elimination
of Naegleria fowleri in the Parish's water system;

. Evaluate sampling methods and testing results relevant to
Naegleria fowleri; and

. Submit a report documenting findings from the above tasks with
recommendations.

Dr. Englande, a former resident of St. Bernard Parish, has a Ph.D. in
Environmental and Water Resources Engineering from Vanderbilt University and
has extensive experience as a water quality consultant and researcher. Dr.
Englande has also over 140 publications.
