Karen Konnerth of Calliope Puppets will present her magical shadow puppet
program, "When Night Dreams," at 1030 a.m. at the library, 2600 Palmisano
Blvd. in Chalmette.

Konnerth will bring to life tales of the night from three different cultures
in celebration of the winter solstice, or the longest night of the year.
Guests attending the program will also have the opportunity to see a
storytelling technique that features live sand drawing for scenery and may
even learn some of the puppeteer's secrets. Following the performance
participants will be able to see the handmade puppets used during the
program and meet Konnerth.

The St. Bernard Parish Library is able to bring the puppetry program to
families for the first time since Hurricane Katrina, thanks to the parish's
young Lemonade Day entrepreneurs, their adult sponsors, the St. Bernard
Chamber of Commerce and supportive customers. Their donation purchased
blackout theater drapes for the library's performance area.

Funding for the free hour-long performance by Calliope Puppets has been made
possible by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of
Cultural Development in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council as
administered by the St. Tammany Commission on Cultural Affairs.

For more information call the library at 504-279-0448.
