Free computer classes available at Community Center of St. Bernard

The Community Center of St. Bernard, 1111 LeBeau St., Arabi, will begin its
next round of free computer classes Jan. 14. To enroll, residents may call
the center at 504.281.2512 Jan. 9 after 9 a.m. or stop by the center office
daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to register in person.

No enrollments will be accepted until Jan. 6 after 9 a.m. All classes are
filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Class size is limited to eight
members for each class with a waiting list of four members.

Introduction to Windows 7 will focus on understanding basic Windows elements
and settings such as toolbars, start menu, display settings, power options,
and user preferences.

Using Windows 7 will focus on using Windows Explorer and common file and
folder commands such as delete, rename, properties, and views.

Using Windows 7 Part II will focus on using essential services including
Windows Help and Windows Search and printer setup. More work with files and
folders including cut, copy, paste and handling multiple files will be
included. Word Processing will feature instruction on Microsoft Word 2010.
Participants will create new documents, use cut, copy, paste and undo
commands.

Introduction to the Internet will focus on Internet Explorer 9. Searching,
using web addresses, maps, directions, and image searches will be featured.

Evening classes are Tuesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. Jan. 14, 21 and 28 and Feb 4
and 11. Morning classes are Thursdays from 10 to 11 a.m. Jan. 16, 23 and 30
and Feb. 6 and 13.
