A Violet man is in jail on a charge of armed robbery, and the victim's
companion is also behind bars, accused of setting him up to be robbed,
according to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office.

Jerome Gabriel, 24, was arrested Jan. 3 in connection with an armed robbery
on Dec. 29. The Sheriff's Office says the victim and Ireielle Lafrance, 25,
of Violet, were sitting in a vehicle when they were approached by Gabriel
and several other men.

The victim later told deputies that he recognized Gabriel, who forced him
out of the vehicle and robbed him of "a large amount of cash," according to
the Sheriff's Office.

The victim also told deputies that as the men approached, Lafrance took his
keys so he couldn't drive away.

Gabriel, who also was booked with possession of marijuana, is being held in
St. Bernard Parish Prison on $250,000 bond.

Lafrance was booked with one count of being a principal to robbery; she is
being held on $100,000 bond.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Sheriff's
Office at 504.271.2501 or Crimestoppers at 504.822.1111.
