Krewe of Lourdes presents its royalty Feb. 15 in Chalmette

Gregory Noto and Cheryl Georgusis will reign as king and queen of the Krewe
of Lourdes' 64th annual Carnival Ball Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. at the Frederick J.
Sigur Auditorium and Grand Ballroom, in Chalmette.

The Krewe of Lourdes Carnival Ball is free and open to the public. A supper
dance will immediately follow the ball. Tickets are $65 per person. Tickets
may be purchased by calling Lena Nunez at 504.491.5266. Proceeds benefit Our
Lady of Lourdes Church.

Noto is a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish who remained here for
Katrina and has continuously helped to rebuild St. Bernard. Noto is the son
of James and Helen Noto. Noto and his wife, Sharon, have three daughters,
one son and nine grandchildren.

He is a graduate of Tulane and Loyola University, and earned a Juris
Doctorate degree from Loyola School of Law. Noto spent 12 years as a New
Orleans Police Sergeant retiring with distinction and honor. He has been a
lawyer for the past 29 years, and has served as assistant district attorney
for St. Bernard for the past 10 years.

Noto was president of the St. Bernard Bar Association and vice president of
the St. Bernard Restoration Committee. For the last 25 years, Noto has been
assistant bar examiner for the Louisiana State Supreme Court grading exams
for new lawyers. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the South
Louisiana American Red Cross, president of the St Bernard Rotary Club and
vice president of the St. Bernard Gives Back Organization. He is intimately
involved in social, civic and legal endeavors throughout St. Bernard Parish.
He is a parishioner and Eucharistic Minister of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

Georgusis, the daughter of Theodore Reuther Jr. and the late Evelyn Roberts
Reuther, is a former resident of St. Bernard Parish. She graduated summa cum
laude from Our Lady of Holy Cross College, and earned a bachelor of science
degree in business. She was inducted into the Kappa Gamma Pi Honor Society
and received the Dean of Business Award. She and her husband, Joseph, are
benefactors for the Delgado Community College Joey Georgusis Center for
Children. They have co-founded the Youth Rescue Initiative, assisting
at-risk youth in the greater New Orleans Area.

Georgusis also is a member and past president of the Stitch in Time Club
with the St Bernard Volunteers for Family and Community, and a member of the
St. Bernard Tour of Homes and the St. Bernard Gives Back Committees. She is
involved in many civic endeavors including the Louisiana Center for Women
and Government, Crime Stoppers GNO, and the Chalmette High School's
Performing Arts Academy.
