A Baton Rouge teenager was arrested Tuesday in Meraux after fleeing police
in a stolen Cadillac and crashing the car into a house, according to the St.
Bernard Sheriff's office.

Michael Perriloux, 18, was spotted driving recklessly by a St. Bernard
Parish Sheriff's deputy on E. Judge Perez Drive.

Perriloux stopped the car in the 4500 block of E. Judge Perez Drive. But as
the deputy was getting out his car, the Cadillac sped off.

While trying to pass other cars that were stopped near the corner of
DeBouchel Boulevard, Perriloux struck a utility pole. He then turned into a
subdivision, where he hit a house with the car at the corner of DeBouchel
Drive and Tracey Avenue, police said.

After hitting the house, Perriloux got out of the car and fled on foot. He
jumped multiple fences in the subdivision, but was eventually "tackled" by a
sheriff's deputy near the corner of Anais and Mayflower drives, according to
the sheriff's office. One of two images of Perriloux released Thursday
showed him with an injury above one of his eyes, though it was unclear how
he got injured.

On Wednesday, he admitted to stealing the car in Baton Rouge, police said.
It was reported in that area on March 1. Perriloux left the Baton Rouge
area, saying he wanted to get away from family members.

Perriloux was booked into St. Bernard Parish prison on charges of
hit-and-run driving, aggravated flight from an officer, resisting arrest,
reckless operation, possession of stolen property and driving without a
license.
