KIWANIS CLUB AND KIWANIS FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIP DATES

 

The Kiwanis Club of St. Bernard - Arabi and its Foundation has set deadline
dates for receiving applications for their annual scholarships.  Two of the
scholarships, the Kiwanis Club- John Richard Bienvenu (Due April 14, 2014)
and St. Bernard Foundation Scholarships (Due April 9, 2014) are for four
years with a total value of $4,800.  Additionally, a one year scholarship
valued at $1,200 will be awarded by Gulf Coast Bank & Trust (Due April 14,
2014) through the Foundation.

 

High school students who will graduate this spring and who currently reside
in St. Bernard Parish are eligible to apply for the scholarships.  However,
as per the criteria established by the Kiwanis Club of St. Bernard - Arabi
in 1995, eligibility for John Richard Bienvenu and Gulf Coast Bank & Trust
Scholarships is restricted to members of Key Clubs that are sponsored by the
Kiwanis Club. 

 

Academic and/or community service requirements have been defined for these
scholarships. To obtain applications for these scholarships, students are
advised to either see their high school counselors or visit the Kiwanis
website at: www.StBernardKiwanis.org

 

Shirley Pechon, President of the Kiwanis Club of St. Bernard - Arabi said,
"the awarding of these scholarships is a definite action that exemplifies
our Kiwanis Mission Statement which is 'Kiwanis is a global organization of
volunteers dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at
a time.  Dr. Ralph Dauterive, a founding member of the Kiwanis Club of St.
Bernard - Arabi and also a Kiwanian for 57 years said, "The awarding of our
scholarships exemplifies Kiwanis continuous commitment to support
educational programs.  Education activities and programs have been an
emphasis for our club since our establishment in 1957".
