VALERO NAMES NEW VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER FOR ITS MERAUX REFINERY

 

Valero Energy Corporation has named Jack Merrill vice president and general
manager of the company's Meraux Refinery. Former plant manager Lauren Bird
has relocated to Valero's McKee Refinery to serve as its vice president and
general manager.  Merrill is a veteran who served in the U.S. Navy from 1974
to 1979. He began his career with Exxon at its Benicia Refinery in 1982 as a
Refinery Technician/Operator. In 1992, he went to work for Hess for two
years and then returned to Benicia as a control supervisor. Jack worked his
way up through the ranks and has held several supervisory positions. 

 

Merrill was a member of the Emergency Heavy Rescue Team for nine years,
including four years as the Captain. In 1991, his team won a world
championship in confined space rescue. In 2009, Jack was transferred to
Valero's Delaware City Refinery and was promoted to complex manager. He
transferred to Valero's Texas City Refinery in 2010 where he became director
of refinery operations.  Jack's family includes his wife, son who is 32
years old and daughter who is 24 years old. He and his wife share a love for
