Two St. Bernard assistant district attorneys join former judge in DA race

Indicating that St. Bernard Parish District Attorney Jack Rowley won't seek
re-election for the first time in 35 years, two of his assistant district
attorneys qualified on Friday for that race.

Glenn E. Diaz, Other-Arabi, and Michael Gorbaty, R-Arabi, on Friday signed
up to run against former Judge Perry Nicosia, D-eastern St. Bernard, who
resigned from his judicial post on Tuesday to run in the Nov. 4 election.
Nicosia qualified for the race on Thursday.

The two assistant district attorneys would likely not qualify for the
election if Rowley were to seek another term. Rowley, who very rarely speaks
to the press, has not publicly discussed his plans for the fall election.

These candidates qualified so far in St. Bernard on Friday. The list
includes the office sought, the candidate's party affiliation, and their
place of residence:
