Peralta and Parish Employees Raise over $300 For Team Gleason

Parish government employees and officials came together to raise awareness
about ALS and to raise some money for the foundation founded by one of the
Who Dat Nation's most revered figures. However the star of the show was the
parish president, who had a cooler filled to the brim with ice and chilled
water dumped on him by a lucky parish employee. Having seen other parish
elected officials, athletes and celebrities take an "ice shower" for ALS,
St. Bernard Parish President David Peralta wanted to do more than just take
part in the hot social media philanthropic act: he wanted to give parish
employees the chance to donate to the cause of funding research for Lou
Gehrig's Disease and a chance to douse their boss with a large bucket of
water.

"There's nothing like having a giant tub of ice water slowly dumped on your
head by someone who works for to make you appreciate the word humility,"
joked Peralta, who was sporting a Team Gleason t-shirt for the event. In
addition to volunteering for the icy dunking, Peralta has pledged to donate
$100 to Team Gleason. Dozens of parish employees bought $2 chances for the
privilege of tipping the bucket and over 100 tickets were sold.

"I want to thank the parish employees for contributing to the cause of
fighting Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and for standing with Team Gleason by
wearing their black and gold on Wednesday," said Peralta.
