Talbert Pipes- Pipes have arrived! And other shipping news.

I am writing this to everyone on our mailing list for convenience, since
there are now a good many buyers waiting on pipes to reach Pipe & Pint.
If this doesn't concern you, there is still a bit of good news at the
end. The pipes are finally landing at P&P! A bunch of people had
wanted various pipes from site updates going all the way back to early
June, and a number of the pipes shipped to P&P were pre-sold to various
buyers. However, the situation turned ridiculous when the first big box
hit the US. Customs slapped a giant fee on it and held it, without
telling Larry that he only had a few days time to pick it up before it
would automatically be returned to sender. Thus, it got sent back to us
before he even had the chance to pick it up. Some weeks later, all the
pipes arrived back here, where we split the box into several smaller
boxes and re-shipped to Larry.

As of today, they've all landed and I hope that everyone who has been
very patiently waiting on pipes from that bunch will soon have their
pipes in hand!

Needless to say, sorry for the delay. The pipes are now quite
well-traveled, having crossed the ocean three times each...

Apparently Larry has been having some delays getting their website up
and running - it is still not finished, but I will announce it as soon
as it goes online. Until then, I'll just keep posting pics in my pipe
blog of things going to Larry, and folks can inquire with him if they
see anything interesting.

The other bit of semi-good shipping news is that we've found an
alternative shipping method that is both faster and cheaper, but with
one major spot of potential trouble - lack of insurance. La Poste
offers a Recommandé option for packages as well as envelopes (This is
not mentioned or shown on their website), and a pipe-sized box can be
shipped to the US for around 12-14 € as compared to the typical 21 € of
Colissimmo shipping. Better still, recent boxes we've been sending to
Larry have been arriving in FIVE DAYS, instead of four weeks. This is
excellent. However, La Poste only provides a standard insurance
coverage of 75 €, and this can't be increased, so I don't know how
useful this will be for direct-shipping high-end pipes to buyers, as I
expect neither I nor the buyer will want to risk loss of a 600 €
uninsured pipe. Still, it is an option for those who are both impatient
and adventurous. The really good part is that I can La Poste to Larry
and he can then USPS to US buyers in probably less time than I could
Colissimmo direct.

And that's the news of the day!
