Mike,

I can't say that I have a definitive answer for you, but I have spent some
pleasurable time looking through my slide collection (no luck) and books
today.

On page 101 of *Norfolk and Western in Color, 1945 - 1964* by Jim Nichols
there are two photos of the Auville engine servicing facility.
Unfortunately, neither photo gives a clear answer to your question.

*Norfolk & Western's Y-Class Articulated Steam Locomotives *by Thomas W.
Dixon, Karen Parker, and Gene Huddleston is a black and white publication,
but includes photos at Auville, including the inside of the servicing
facility, on pages 92-94.

A lot of the lineside structures, i.e. motor car sheds, switchman shanties,
were painted gray with brown trim. My guess, and that is all it is, based
upon the color photos is the Auville engine servicing facility was the
same. Certainly the gray weathered due to the elements and all of the
steam engine exhaust.

Sorry I can't be more helpful; by the way, your coaling tower is very
impressive.

Hopefully someone else can add more insight to your question. Good luck
with your project.

Jim Brewer
