[game_preservation] Swag archive?

Andy Eddy at Team Xbox was the editor of VideoGames & Computer
Entertainment, he's probably the active games journalist who has been at it
the longest. I know he doesn't have the mag's paper archive though, it's
privately owned by someone else (and I've been trying to get at it for
years).

Steve Harris from EGM has a storage unit full of stuff that I'm hoping to
see someday. He's too busy relaunching the mag right now to respond to
emails though.

I've been meaning to talk to Arnie Katz and Joyce Worley to see if they have
an archive, it's on my to-do list. Bill Kunkel is still around too; I
haven't specifically asked him what kinds of things he's kept, but he never
struck me as the nostalgic packrat type.

Game Informer if I'm not mistaken still has active staff that was at the
magazine since its 1991 launch, which is kind of crazy in this industry. I
don't know if they bothered hanging onto old material, but that's another
"to-do" item for me.

I've often wondered if the RePlay (arcade/coin-op trade mag) office has kept
an archive of material, that would be a goldmine if so. They've been at it
since the beginning of time!

As you can see I think about this kind of thing a lot. I'm really not
worried about preserving commercially-released games so much as I am this
stuff, since the media it's on is so volatile that I'm sure a lot of it is
literally one-of-a-kind at this point.
