Yes, chalk that up to interns not familiar with history of the IP. They
were also going after Atari fan websites.

And remember, just because they never filed a copyright on the AV to
breakout doesn't mean they can't falsely go after someone (or in this case
ignorantly). All it takes is a complaint from a major company to Apple
that a game is considered an infringement by them and down it goes.

By all accounts, he was supposed to have been a hell of a guy and had a
special love for the Atari brand. That's show first when he took over Atari
Japan instead of letting it fail. It basically fell in his lap when the
original owner just took off because of the severe financial problems. Then
later as well when he left NAMCO America to head little Atari Games and
take it into employee ownership.
