The Bowser cars is what caused me to raise this question? They look to be the same red-brown color as WM hoppers. When did these quad hoppers appear?

I was under the same impression that some PRR quad hoppers were leased to both N&W and the VGN during the war. Bowser offers both N&W & VGN on their PRR Quads, so I am guessing they have some photographic evidence.

Wasn't there discussion about this some time recently that there were red hoppers on the Virginian during WWII when the Pennsylvania Railroad sent cars to help cover a shortage?
