Jer,

I am in agreement with you- I am very cautious about only reporting what we
are given by those agencies.

Craig, did the oil spill contain contaminates that filtered down below a
layer of sand? According the the EPA website, numerous chemical agents,
polutants, and contaminants were transferred to almost the entire Chalmette
area (and who knows once the final outcome is known). Shouldn't the parish
be first and foremost in knowing if this is true or perhaps a pipe-dream
concocted by anyone in the parish to "wish" it so? People do NOT have a
definitive answer if there are some, either in a division of federal
government, or agency who are telling citizens that the area is "toxic",
never to be inhabitable, or "safe, beyond a doubt" -- depending on who one
discusses it. If any government, (small or large) is wrong in its
determination that 'all is well' and months/years later turns out the body
of self or loved on has developed a serious illness, it's going to be sad
days. Perhaps there are illnesses already in its stages from the refineries,
etc. beforehand in incubation/stages, but now, it's another issue plaguing
our recovery. Let's hope "reported as habitable" works to the advantage of
our parish's inhabitants.

Jer.
