Not exactly.  What I'm saying is, if you are in the Murphy map, opt-out and
settle with your own attorney.

If you are not in Murphy's map then the decision gets a little trickier.

You can just sit back and hope Sidney, et al, throw you a bone in a few
years.

Or, you can spend a little money and have your own sampling done so you can
make an informed decision.

If you spend the money and find out that you don't have any oil you are
right back at the beginning, only with a little less money and a little more
knowledge.

Before opting-out, you could at least approach Murphy, tell them you are
ready to opt-out if they will reimburse you for your costs of getting the
testing done.  With luck, you'll reach the right person, they'll be the cost
and it's all over with.  Otherwise, you sit on the report and wait on Sidney
to settle for you.  Hopefully you will get a few more dollars than what the
testing cost.

If you do turn up positive, get your own attorney and opt out.

 Westley, ahhh...so you're saying (in your humbled opinion or IYHO), that
you would opt out of a "forced inclusion into the oil zone (not in the
Murphy Oil Map zone), and ASK Murphy if you're in the oil zone? This then
allows you to discuss things with Murphy, who tells you I'm NOT in their
mapped zone, and at the same time, I eliminated myself from the good Judge's
inclusively mapped area as an oil-spill victim. Now I get nothing since I
now would have opted out of both? <G>>

Now that I would have gotten my soil tested by professionals

1. I would have found out that my property tests positive, and I get my
attorney to sue independent from the class action.
2. I would have found out that my property tests negative, I'm out from
paying for a professional tester, out from the class action suit, and out
from a personal suit with my hired attorney (which I hope he only collects
on a contingency basis if he collects from Murphy at all).
