Coast Guard seeking owners of salvaged boats in St. Bernard Parish

The U.S. Coast Guard wants to hear from the owners of 60-70 vessels salvaged
from St. Bernard Parish waterways or the boats will be turned over to the
state.

About 50 owners have taken back their vessels but the Coast Guard wants to
give owners who haven't a final chance to take it away or at least remove
parts before they are turned over to the state, a parish news release says.

Authorities have photos of vessels and locations where they were found to
help identify them.

Owners can call the Coast Guard at (504) 310-3706 to arrange to be there
when a vessel is lifted from a barge. They can remove the vessel themselves
or specify the parts or equipment they wish to keep.

However, owners must be able to remove the boats from the site.
