[StBernard] Street Cleaners

One of the few items that I will gladly give Junior credit for is the fact
that he honored his election commitment to purchase a "Street Sweeper" and
to have it place daily. I miss seeing this unit in action, especially at a
time when it is sorely needed. Is it possible to use some of the monies
given to St. Bernard by the federal government to purchase a new Street
Sweeper (maybe two) and keep them in operation eight hours a day? Whether
it originates from the pick-up of debris or from flooding from backed-up
drains, I don't know of anyone that has escaped getting a flat tire.

The Street Sweepers would be another sign to residents that the clean-up
effort is continuous, and is one way of demonstrating that local government
is trying to keep the drains clean. Hopefully, it will also encourage
residents to keep the street in front of their home clean, and remove
standing debris from their streets.

May I also suggest that Junior and the other council members take a drive
down Genie Street and some of intersecting streets and see just how long
some of the debris has been sitting? Have them check with the residents and
see just how long some of this debris has been sitting there waiting for
pick-up and then follow-up to see that the debris is finally picked up. I
have no doubt that their will be little more activity now, and not just
around election time.
