Your mortgage company should have sent you your original paid promissory
note and a release instrument.  It is your responsibility to then take it to
the Clerk of Court in St. Bernard to have the mortgage removed from your
property thus giving you clear title.  

It is not the usual course of business for the mortgage company to send it
directly to the Clerk of Court but since these are unusual times that could
have happened.  Your mortgage company should be able to tell you.

We are working on getting a SBA loan.  Need a clear title to our home.
We
paid our home off in Jan., but still haven't got a release to get a clear
title. Mortgage co. said if was because the county hasn't released it yet.
Did anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know if there is something I
can do to speed up the process? Any advice will be appreciated.
