Governor's Statement to the People of New York City 


"On behalf of the people of Louisiana, I want to reiterate our thanks and appreciation to all of America, and especially to the people of New York, for their outpouring of help, prayers and support after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita last fall. 

"We have a special connection with New Yorkers and they with us. Because of their tragedy five years ago, New Yorkers knew firsthand the devastation felt by the people of Louisiana during those unforgettable days of rescue following Katrina. Just as the people of Louisiana quickly moved to help with recovery from 9-11, the people of New York returned the favor in ways we will remember forever. 

"Please know that our great State recognizes New York's special position as one of the World's greatest cities and we admire its people. We love visiting New York and we know you love coming to New Orleans, so please plan to come again soon and we will welcome you with our unique brand of hospitality."
