Touching tributes
It's Veteran's Day, a day to remember those who have served our
country.

I would like to express my gratitude to those who have served in the
armed forces. And I would like to pay my respects to those who have lost
their lives.

I have been deeply touched by Legacy.com's Moving Tributes. You'll
find a number of slide shows honoring soldiers who died in Iraq and
Afghanistan.

Each time I watch one of the slide shows, the tears well up in my
eyes. The slide shows were made by family and friends. You'll get glimpses
of their personal lives. You're seeing them the way they will always be
remembered in the hearts of loved ones.

It is gut-wrenching to see these young soldiers. Many were just
married, or engaged. Others had small children. It really puts the news we
hear every day into perspective.

Before you visit this site, I must warn you: These pictures will
haunt you. One is of a soldier hugging his son right before deployment. I
cannot get that image out of my mind.

If someone you loved died for our country, I urge you to create your
own tribute. The service is free, and the tribute will remain permanently on
display.

And don't forget to show your appreciation to the living veterans
who also served our country.
