Anyone who suspects they have been the victim of consumer contractor fraud
is urged to contact the Louisiana Attorney General's Consumer Protection
Hotline at 1-800-351-4889.
Louisiana Attorney General Charles C. Foti, Jr., announced several
individuals have been arrested recently on charges of theft related to
contractor fraud involving work they were paid for but failed to perform
following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

If convicted on the above charges of felony theft by fraud, suspects face a
possible sentence of imprisonment up to ten years, or may be fined up to
$3,000.00, or both.

"My office will continue to go after those individuals who allegedly promise
to repair homes and never follow through on that promise," Foti said.
