Tanya:
I couldn't agree more about not being punished for our neighbor's lack of
caring for those who have no choice but to remain. However, we don't intend
to put too much money into a home, first, not knowing how we will fare out
with LRA which hasn't yet been determied, secondly, not knowing whether or
not something will be done about our neighbor leaving the parish, only to
buy a beautiful home elsewhere, leaving a very nasty pool behind for us to
deal with when it comes to snakes, mosquitos, and children being drawn to a
very dangerous condition. I understand your thinking that our waiting on
FEMA guidelines to be adopted is bull but so is dumping money (that we don't
have) into a neighborhood that doesn't seem to be coming back. We are just
trying to do what would be correct in order to not hurt our chances of being
charged higher than necessary insurance costs. Since Katrina we and another
neighbor have been religiously cutting grass for neighbors on our right and
left, trying to keep cirtters away from our modest trailer. Too bad I can't
send my neighbors a bill for this but we do it to protect our property. But
rest assured that gesture is coming to an abrupt halt. I think the way to
deal with this is to turn their names and addresses over to the parish
council and have them place the lien on the people that have been getting
away with this for too damn long.
