TOMORROW: Walter Leger to Address Industrial Areas Foundation Organization Assembly

BATON ROUGE, La. (March 16, 2007) - Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA) Housing Task Force Chairman Walter Leger will address the Network of Louisiana Industrial Areas Foundation's Statewide Leadership Assembly tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 185 Eddie Robinson Sr. Dr. in Baton Rouge.

Leger will join LRA Board Member Rev. Harry Blake to discuss how to best help the group's network of displaced Louisianans access recovery resources including the Road Home program.

Affiliated with the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF), the group is the nation's oldest and largest organizing network. More than 400 leaders from IAF organizations in New Orleans, Jefferson Parish, Alexandria, Shreveport, Monroe and evacuees working with IAF organizations in San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston are expected to attend the assembly.

Hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated South Louisiana, claiming 1,464 lives, destroying more than 200,000 homes and 18,000 businesses and inflicting about $25 billion in insured losses. The Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA) is the planning and coordinating body that was created in the aftermath of these storms by Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco to lead one of the most extensive rebuilding efforts in the world. The LRA is a 33-member body which is coordinating across jurisdictions, supporting community recovery and resurgence, ensuring integrity and effectiveness, and planning for the recovery and rebuilding of Louisiana.
