St. Bernard part of mock emergency drill; schedules pre-hurricane season
meeting

St. Bernard Parish officials will host a pre-hurricane season meeting May 30
that is open to the public.


The meeting will be held at 1 p.m. in the Parish Council office behind the
government complex at 8201 W. Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette.

The meeting comes on the heels of an exercise that St. Bernard Parish
emergency responders took part in this week. That drill, conducted by the
state, was set up to help local governments practice their response to
emergencies, according to a news release from St. Bernard Parish government.

During the drill, which brought together representatives of St. Bernard
Parish government, the Sheriff's Office, the Fire Department, emergency
medical services and the state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries,
responders were tested on how to handle a hurricane, ship crash on the
Mississippi River and chemical leak, the news release said.
