While I applaud the concept, that won't be very helpful if the levees fail
again. Also, would there be enough deputies/Nat'l Guard members, etc. to
protect this store against the crowds, post-storm, if levees were not a
factor?
Would the idea be to just protect the merchandise or to allow some type of
commerce immediately after a storm?
Just curious

Five local Winn-Dixie stores to be outfitted with more powerful
generators

Florida-based Winn-Dixie is outfitting 66 of its locations,
including five
in the metro New Orleans area, with diesel-powered generators that
can power
an entire store in the event of a power outage.

The 500-kilowatt generators are capable of running an entire store,
including coolers and freezers, to ensure that perishable foods
don't spoil.
All of the company's 521 stores are currently equipped with smaller
generators that are not powerful enough to run an entire store or
keep
	refrigeration units running.

The stores selected for the more powerful generators are in areas
that have
been affected by power outages associated with hurricanes and
tropical
storms in recent years. Winn-Dixie stores at the following local
addresses
are slated to receive the new generators: 2112 Belle Chasse Hwy. in
Gretna;
4600 Chef Menteur Hwy. in New Orleans; 2104 Williams Blvd. in
Kenner; 5400
Tchoupitoulas St. in New Orleans; and 3300 Paris Road in Chalmette
