Baker announces $832,000 in economic development grants

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Richard Baker, R-Baton Rouge, today announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration has approved two economic development grants for Louisiana totaling $832,000.

The Louisiana Committee of 100, through its Economic Development Committee, has been approved for a grant of $400,000 to develop a strategic plan for Louisiana to fully realize economic opportunities from commerce with Latin America. The plan will seek to identify current and traditional commercial relationships as well future prospects with Latin America countries.

Separately, the Ports Association of Louisiana has been approved for a grant of $432,785 toward developing a statewide business strategy and marketing plan for future growth of ports and other maritime transportation industry clusters in Louisiana.
