CHEFS! START YOUR BURNERS

Outstanding chefs for the 2007 Great American Seafood Cook-Off are at the
starting line: Alabama, Alaska, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia,
Hawaii, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri,
North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Texas, and Wyoming. Jeffery Mora, chef
for the Los Angeles Lakers, will also compete on behalf of the National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Doors open at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.


LOUISIANA CULINARY SCHOOLS SHINE

Opening ceremonies for the Louisiana Alligator Soirée begin at 10:30 a.m. on
Monday August 7.

The Soirée features student cooking teams from Louisiana's top culinary
schools: Delgado Community College Culinary Program of New Orleans,
Louisiana Culinary Institute of Baton Rouge, and SOWELA Technical Community
College of Lake Charles.


UP AND COMING ALLIGATOR CHEFS

Many of the students also work in Louisiana restaurants and catering
businesses while working toward culinary degrees: Delgado - Mario Reyes,
Bacco; Daryl Coleman, Sun-Ray Grill Westbank; Lashonda James, Emeril's; and
Jimmy Le, Brennan's.

Louisiana Culinary Institute - Dustin Deshotels, Juban's Restaurant; Jude
Huval, Pat's Fisherman's Wharf; Jeremy Jeansonne, Don's Seafood &
Steakhouse; and Philip Cornman, Hollywood Casino Steakhouse.

SOWELA - Keith Jagneaux, self-employeed; Kattie Manuel, works with Keith
Jagneaux; Wilton Kegley, Hollier's Cajun Kitchen; and Joseph Heacook III,
Cookey's Café.

ABOUT US

The Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board was formed by the 1984
Louisiana Legislature. The Board is empowered to take any marketing or
educational action necessary to improve the well being of the seafood
industry -- while maintaining wise management of the state's fishery
resources. The Board is a program funded through the LA Dept. of Wildlife
and Fisheries.
