SOUTHEASTERN SBDC SCHEDULES HUDSON INITIATIVE SEMINARS ON STATE PURCHASING

HAMMOND - Southeastern Louisiana University's Small Business
Development Center will host two seminars on the State of Louisiana's Small
Entrepreneur Program, known generally as the Hudson Initiative.

Co-sponsored with the St. Tammany Economic Development
Foundation, the free seminar is open to any interested business. The event
is scheduled for Thursday, August 23 at 1 p.m. at the St. Tammany Parish
Library in Covington. A morning session will also be held in Hammond at 9
a.m.

The programs are presented by the Office of State Purchasing and
are designed to acquaint businesses with methods of doing business with the
state under the Hudson Initiative. Pre-registration is requested, as
seating is limited in both locations. For more information or to register,
contact Southeastern's SBDC at 985-549-3831 or by e-mail at sbdc at selu.edu.

The Hudson Initiative was created by the Louisiana legislature
in 2005 to provide additional opportunities for Louisiana-based small
entrepreneurships to participate in contracting and procurement with the
State of Louisiana. It is a goal oriented program in which participation is
race and gender neutral.

Certification of a business is required for participation in the
Hudson Initiative. Louisiana Economic Development (LED) is responsible for
certifying businesses and certification is available online in the LED Small
Business Certification System at www.ledsmallbiz.com.

Please sign up for this event to learn about procurement and
contracting opportunities that do not require competitive bidding.
Southeastern Louisiana University, St. Tammany Economic Development
Foundation, and all other event sponsors actively support the overall
mission of this initiative to involve certified Louisiana-based small
entrepreneurships in procurement and contracting opportunities.
