Three fires - two at former schools - kept St. Bernard Parish firefighters
busy late Wednesday and early today. There were no injuries in any of the
fires.

Firefighters responded to a fire at the old Chalmette Middle School building
where demolition crews were knocking down the school's gym. The two-alarm
blaze was contained to the building's interior.

Later Wednesday night, firefighters were called to a one-alarm fire in the
5900 block of East St. Bernard Highway, at the former Borgnemouth school.
Flames were reported to be coming from a trailer parked at the site.
Firefighters put out the fire in less than an hour. The cause is under
investigation.

Finally, firefighters responded to a blaze around 4:30 a.m. today at an
abandoned home in the 1900 block of Licciardi Lane in Violet. It took
firefighters about an hour to put out the blaze. It, too, is under
investigation.
