Power 102.9 radio station presents check to St. Bernard President Craig
Taffaro for nearly $10,000 from its Power to the Parish Benefit Concert at
the House of Blues

Residents can vote on playground design today, Thursday from 5-7 p.m.

Big Abe and Lebron "LBJ" Joseph of Power 102.9 FM presented a check for
$9,988.65 to St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro, Jr. meant to
fund playground equipment at Violet Park No. 2.

St. Bernard Parish residents are welcome to choose from one of six
playground designs Thursday, July 15, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Our Lady of
Lourdes Church at the corner of Colonial Boulevard and East Judge Perez
Drive in Violet.

The two on-air personalities presented President Taffaro the check from a
live remote on the Big Abe and the Power Posse Show with Big Abe and D.J.
Chicken. The Power Posse came to the Breton Sound Command Center for St.
Bernard Oil Spill Operations on Tuesday to present the donation.

KKND Program Director LeBron Joseph has said that the hip hop community and
Citadel Broadcasting's radio station KKND-FM (Power 102.9) wanted to help do
something for the youth of St. Bernard Parish as a result of the BP Gulf Oil
Spill.

Power teamed with the House of Blues New Orleans and the office of President
Taffaro to produce the Power to the Parish Concert on June 18. This
incredible event showcased national hip hop superstars J Cole (Columbia/ Roc
Nation), the California Swag District (Capitol Records), Juvenile (E1
Entertainment), and rising local star Kourtney Heart. In addition, the
Power 102.9 DJ's served as host and mixers for the event, and a St. Bernard
hip hop band, Cross Parish Connection, was the opening act.

Two of the radio cluster's broadcast towers rest in St. Bernard Parish and
the radio officials thought it was natural to use their resources to help.
"Considering that Power is a station that caters to young people in our
community, our desire was to do something that benefited the kids of The
Parish," Joseph said.

Taffaro thanked them for the donation. "We are really appreciative for the
generosity and kindness of the people of Power 102.9 and Citadel
Broadcasting for what they have done for us," he said.

Taffaro announced that the citizens would choose the design because he wants
the community's input for this wonderful addition to Violet Park No. 2, part
of the St. Bernard Recreation Department which has already been dramatically
upgraded through FEMA funding to address repairs and renovations since
Hurricane Katrina. Proceeds from the recent Always Home Dance at the Civic
Center Grand Ballroom will cover the remaining balance of the cost of the
playground equipment. The Always Home Dance is organized by a citizens'
committee which President Taffaro is a member of that annually raises money
for recreation programs.
