CHALMETTE, La. - A 15-year-old boy riding in a stolen truck that slammed
into five parked vehicles while fleeing from police is now in custody,
according to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office.

The boy, who is not being identified because he is a juvenile, was under
house arrest during his arrest, said St. Bernard Chief Deputy Sheriff James
Pohlmann. He was wearing his electronic monitoring bracelet when he was
apprehended.

Pohlmann said at about 8 a.m. Friday, a deputy on patrol in Chalmette saw a
2006 Ford truck that was reported stolen in New Orleans a day earlier. He
said there were three people in the vehicle, two men and a woman.

The deputy tried to stop the vehicle, but the suspects fled to the 3200
block of Pakenham Drive and hit five parked vehicles on the street, Pohlmann
said. One of the men and the woman escaped, while the deputy arrested the
15-year-old boy not far away from the scene.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the chase.

The boy was booked with possession of stolen property, which was the truck,
flight from an officer and possession of marijuana found in the truck,
Pohlmann said.

Deputies are still search for the man and woman who fled the scene.
