St. Bernard Seafood and Farmers Market offers something for adults and
children

Weekly update for the August 6th Market

The St. Bernard Seafood and Farmers Market in the heart of the Old Arabi
Historic District will feature handmade artisan crafts, fresh food and fresh
ideas to help local residents improve their quality of life. Children can
cool off in the outdoor pop-up fountains or enjoy children's activities.

DJ Professor Possum will be spinning the discs Saturday from the studio he
built on a trailer and will feature the talents of the Beatles, Roy Orbison,
Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Irma Thomas and others! If you can't be at the
Market, make sure to tune in to FM 90.1 to hear the Professor's show on the
radio. Also check out the animal adoption area sponsored by St. Bernard
Parish Animal Services.

While visiting the market, receive gardening tips and other information
about responsible stewardship of the environment from the Master Gardeners
informational booth. Another market exhibitor will be the Rebuilding
Together New Orleans organization, a volunteer effort to improve the quality
of life of low income homeowners through home repair and revitalization of
New Orleans' neighborhoods. The organization also will promote The ReUse
District, a collaboration between nonprofits, businesses and community
organizations whose aim is to increase the appreciation and accessibility of
reused materials in nearby New Orleans neighborhoods.

The market has many selections including locally grown produce, fresh
shrimp, delicious baked goods, jams and pickled goods, fresh herbs, organic
blueberries, homemade pralines, fresh bread and local artisans selling
handmade original crafts. The market that operates Saturdays from 8 a.m. to
1 p.m. through October is geared toward local farmers and fishermen so they
can sell their products to the local community. However, spaces are
available for local artisans who specialize in handmade arts and crafts.
Those who would like to sell flowers, bedding plants and seeds are welcomed.
Consumers or vendors interested in learning more about the market can email
Market Manager Ashley Proze at market at sbpg.net or call (504) 355-4442. The
market, at 409 Aycock Street, Arabi, La 70032, can be accessed off of St.
Claude Avenue by turning south at the signs that say St. Bernard Visitor
Center and Seafood and Farmers Market.
