Vacant Chalmette home suffers another fire

CHALMETTE, La. -- Firefighters in St. Bernard Parish responded to a fire in
a building that also burned several months ago.

Officials say the home in Chalmette has been vacant for quite some time and
for that reason they're now investigating to see whether arson is to blame.

Either way, some neighbors say it's time for something to be done about the
property.

"Whoever the owner is, they need to tear the stuff down, because now there's
a giant hole in the middle of it," said neighbor Angela Abadie. "It's got to
be torn down. I don't know if the city will do it or whatever else."

Officials say no one was injured, and the investigation to find out what
caused the fire is ongoing.
