St. Bernard Parish feeling the impacts of Hurricane Isaac

St. Bernard Parish continues to experience strong winds and torrential rainfall. Flooding has been reported outside of the Hurricane Levee Protection System with some street flooding inside of the levee protection system. We urge all residents to observe the curfew in effect until 6:00 p.m. today.

Lake Borgne Levee District has reported that both the levees and the pumps are functioning properly. The levee breach in Plaquemines Parish will not affect St. Bernard Parish.

Due to widespread power outages throughout the parish all sewer lift stations are no longer operational. Residents are asked to limit flushing of the toilets in order to avoid backups.

St. Bernard Parish Government Emergency Operations Center will continue to work around the clock for the duration of the storm and can be reached at 504-278-4268.

Parish officials will continue to provide updates to the public as time and resources allow.
