Nunez Community College in Chalmette will open Student Success Center

Students at Nunez Community College in Chalmette will soon benefit from a
Student Success Center, with the passage of Senate Bill 204. The bill,
referred to as "SB204 Facilities with a Purpose," will improve Louisiana's
community and technical college facilities statewide to provide "increased
training capacity and opportunities for students, business and industry in
both rural and urban areas across the state," according to a Louisiana
Community and Technical College System officials.


The bill authorizes financing and construction of 29 projects in the amount
of $251.6 million. Twelve percent, or $34.3 million, will be provided from
local private matching funds.

Nunez Chancellor Thomas Warner, said, "Senate Bill 204 will supply valuable
funds for a Student Success Center at Nunez Community College and be a
terrific addition to our campus. It will provide a much-needed facility that
will enhance academic and technical program support for our students."

Joe May, president of Louisiana Community and Technical College System,
said, "The approval of SB204 shows a commitment by the Legislature to
continue to invest in, and improve, facilities for career and technical
education programs to meet the growing demand for a skilled labor force."
