St. Bernard Parish President David Peralta has announced that he will
declare a State of Emergency Effective Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 8:00
a.m. as a result of the forecasted conditions of Tropical Storm Karen.

The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will be in full operation as of 9:00

termination of the State of Emergency.

A Voluntary Evacuation is called for residents and business outside of the
Hurricane Protection Levee.

The Clerk of Court, Randy Nunez, has cancelled Early Voting on Saturday,
October 5, 2013. Early Voting will resume on Monday, October 7, 2013.

"We urge all residents to prepare for the possibility of a rain and wind
event, particularly those living in low lying areas should take
precautionary measures to prevent damage to property. Assure that all family
members are accounted for and have a safe place to shelter from the weather
if it becomes necessary. We ask that you secure items on your property,
clear storm drains, and pay close attention to weather forecasts and Parish
officials as the storm gets closer to land," said President Peralta.

The Administration and the Emergency Operations Center will continue to
communicate with the National Weather Service in order to have the most up
to date storm track. Residents can call the EOC at 504-278-4268 or stay
updated through local media, our website at www.sbpg.net, through Facebook
and Twitter.
