Knights of Nemesis will hold social meeting Oct. 14 in Chalmette: Community Report

The Knights of Nemesis Social Club and Parade will holding a social meeting Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at Desi Romano’s Sports Bar & Grill, 3809 Paris Road, in Chalmette. All members and prospective members are invited to attend.

Food will be provided. The Knights of Nemesis organization was formed in 2004 and has paraded in the parish for the past eight years. The ninth annual Knights of Nemesis Parade will be held Feb. 22 at 1 p.m.. For information about the social or parade, contact Billy Showalter, 504-583-3998 or visit www.knightsofnemesis.org

Ladies auxiliary meets

Archbishop Rummel Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary will meet Oct. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2107 Paris Road, Chalmette.

Oyster fest set

The Violet Oyster Festival will be held Oct. 18-20 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, at the corner of East Judge Perez Drive and 2621 Colonial Blvd. in Violet. The festival opens Oct. 18 from 6 to 11 p.m., Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Oct. 20 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Rides, bands, arts and crafts, games, other entertainment and food will be featured. Admission is free, and there is on-site parking.

Proceeds benefit the church's ministries, and it gives people an opportunity to gather and celebrate life with great food and friends.

Stitch in time

The Stitch In Time Club, an organization under the St. Bernard Volunteers for Family and Community sponsored by the LSU AgCenter, will meet Oct. 17 at 10:30 a.m. n the Magnolia Room. Anyone wishing to join may call Nora Egan 324-2445.

Youth fishing rodeo
The Knights of Columbus Council 5747 of St. Bernard will host its second annual youth fishing rodeo Oct. 26 at Sweetwater AMarina in DeLacroix Island. Children ages 16 and younger may participate. Weigh in will be at Sweetwater Marina at 3 p.m.
Free food, drinks and T-shirt will be given to participants. There is no entry fee to participate.

Andrew Jackson and Chalmette High reunion

The 1968 classes of Andrew Jackson High School and Chalmette High School will hold a 45th reunion Nov. 23 from 8 to 11 p.m. at Southport Hall, 200 Monticello Ave., in Jefferson.
The cost is $45 per person and includes multiple entrées , food trays and beverages. An informal get together cash bar will be held Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Tony's Sandwich Shop on Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette.

Tourist Commission meets
The St. Bernard Parish Tourist Commission will meet Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. at the St. Bernard Parish Courthouse, 1221 Bayou Road, St. Bernard Village. The agenda will include discussion of upcoming events, marketing, and planning for the commission.
